Mediterranean Cultural Network of Cities
Stations of the Apostle Paul’s Missionary Path

The European Union facilitates exchange among populations belonging to different States but having common cultural roots. In such a context, it promoted a programme for cooperation among European cities and regions called "INTERREG" , which  is now at its third edition.
The municipality of Reggio Calabria participated in the "INTERREG III B ARCHIMED" programme adhering to a partnership promoted by the Prefecture of Dodecaneso and made up of several cities of the Mediterranean area: Temi Zammit Foundation ( Malta ), Pafos ( Cy ), Ministry of Aegean, Lesvos, Rhodes, Thessaloniki( GR ) and in  Italy the city of Reggio Calabria.

The "MEDMISSION Project"   aims at studying the evolution of the religious thought featuring the character of St. Paul, through his preaching, in order to outline a historical-cultural-religious route aiming at the protection, the promotion and the valorisation of the common cultural heritage of the involved cities, facilitating also the creation of a tourist route passing through the stops that each city represents. 

Specific objectives of the project are the following:
- Creation of a cultural network and promotion of the group activity (meetings, workshops, seminars and festivals).
- Installation of informative monuments on the local stops of the path. (islands).
- Increase of ICT instruments for the safeguard and the valorisation of the heritage left by the Apostle Paul in the area ( DVD, websites , e-learning systems, study contents and “games” of simulation
- Definition of the path’s trademark in tourist and cultural terms, as well as the general promotion of the path’s activities. 
- Valorisation of dissemination studies and actions for a sustainable use of the project results. 

For the achievement of these objectives the following activities are planned:
- Scientific research and documentation of the missionary path of the Apostle Paul in the Mediterranean basin.
- Spread of basic knowledge in schools, universities and research institutes thanks to ITC instruments.
- Creation of a website and informatics products for the dissemination of the works of the network. 
- Periodical meetings for the deepening and comparison of studies and outputs.
- Institution, exploiting and valorisation of the tourist path.
- Production of advertising and promotional material related to the set route and to the carried out activity.
